Indiana’s life sciences industry is attracting out-of-state talent at a steady pace, with 1 in 10 technical roles filled by professionals relocating into the state over the past year, according to data compiled by Harba’s proprietary database. But Harba, a leading talent consultancy specializing in the life science sector, reports that 2 in 10 of its technical placements over the last 12 months involved relocations into Indiana, double the state average.
“This is a clear signal that Indiana has turned a corner in STEM talent attraction,” said Wade Franchville, Founder of Harba Solutions. “For years, the belief was that no one would move from the coasts to Indiana for life sciences jobs. Now we’re placing engineers and specialists relocating from major life science hubs like Chicago, San Diego, New York, Boston, and North Carolina’s RTP because the opportunities here are too strong to ignore.”
The trend spans critical technical roles, including validation engineers, process engineers, MSAT engineers, packaging engineers, and supplier quality specialists. These roles are essential to sustaining Indiana’s growth as one of the nation’s leading hubs for life sciences.
Indiana’s industry momentum is hard to overlook:
Organizations such as BioCrossroads and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation continue to play a pivotal role in attracting global companies and investment.
“Indiana has the talent, but its growth is demanding even more,” added Franchville. “Our ability to drive relocations at twice times the market rate shows that, with the right approach, Indiana can continue to pull in the best talent from across the U.S..”
