DeltaV Automation Engineer

Indianapolis $100,000 - $170,000 Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and support Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems (DCS) used in manufacturing and process operations.

  • Develop and modify control logic, batch configurations, and HMI graphics to support process improvements, new equipment integrations, and production changes.

  • Collaborate with engineering, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure automation systems meet GMP, safety, and quality requirements.

  • Participate in system commissioning, startup, and validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation and execution.

  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and technical support for DeltaV systems, instrumentation, and field devices.

  • Maintain and update system documentation, including FRS, DDS, I/O lists, network diagrams, and change controls.

  • Support change management and software version control processes in accordance with site and regulatory standards.

  • Implement automation best practices to improve system reliability, data integrity, and process performance.

  • Participate in on-call support rotation for critical manufacturing systems when required.

  • Assist in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects for automation systems and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 3–7 years of experience in process automation engineering within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV configuration, troubleshooting, and batch system design (Batch Executive, Phase Logic, Recipe Management).

  • Strong understanding of ISA-88 batch process control standards and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation, control networks, and process equipment integration (CIP/SIP, reactors, filtration, or filling systems).

  • Familiarity with GMP documentation, validation, and change control processes.

  • Proficiency with control logic, scripting, and data historian tools (OSI PI or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality results under minimal supervision.
