Technical Writer

Indianapolis $35 - $40/HR Permanent

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Research, write, and edit technical documents, including user manuals, training materials, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, and product managers to gather information and ensure accuracy.
  • Convert complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content for various audiences.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect changes in technology, policies, or processes.
  • Develop and enforce documentation standards, including formatting, terminology, and style guidelines.
  • Utilize content management systems (CMS), documentation tools, and version control software to organize and publish content.
  • Conduct quality reviews and usability testing to ensure clarity and effectiveness of documentation.
  • Create diagrams, flowcharts, and visuals to enhance written content.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and communication.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field.
  • Certification in Technical Communication or Documentation is a plus.
  • GMP experience 
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in software, manufacturing, engineering, or healthcare industries.
  • Experience with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, or Confluence.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), version control (Git), and markup languages (HTML, XML, Markdown) is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation.
