Construction Quality Engineer

St. Louis $65 - $85 p/h Contract

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans for pharmaceutical construction projects.
  • Perform routine construction inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, GMP requirements, applicable building codes, and quality standards.
  • Review construction quality across all disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, structural, and architectural systems.
  • Verify construction workmanship, installation quality, fit and finish, and adherence to cleanroom construction standards.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, material submittals, testing documentation, and quality records generated throughout construction activities.
  • Partner with project managers and the general contractor to identify quality concerns, resolve deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct root cause investigations for construction quality issues and support preventive action planning.
  • Maintain detailed quality documentation, inspection reports, and project records throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Support construction activities for brownfield expansion projects within active pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories, GMP warehouses, and controlled environments.
  • Monitor construction progress using project schedules and collaborate with project teams to ensure quality milestones are achieved.
  • Provide guidance to project personnel regarding construction quality expectations, inspection requirements, and QA/QC best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or related discipline), Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction quality assurance, construction quality control, or construction engineering.
  • Required experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences construction projects involving GMP or ISO Class C cleanroom environments.
  • Experience supporting construction within active pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories, or other regulated production environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, and design models.
  • Experience performing field inspections across multiple construction disciplines and identifying quality deficiencies.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles, inspection processes, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience working alongside general contractors and coordinating construction quality activities with multiple subcontractors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction documentation platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, Procore, or similar systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining high quality standards.
