Senior Maintenance Manager

Indianapolis $135,000 - $160,000 Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop the maintenance organization, including two direct-report supervisors and their technician teams
  • Coach and manage performance for supervisors, with indirect oversight of technicians across both teams, and ensure adequate shift staffing and coverage
  • Set team goals, priorities, and training plans to support production schedules, maintenance windows, and technical skill growth
  • Own and continuously improve the reliability strategy, PM, PdM, and condition-based monitoring
  • Establish and monitor key metrics (MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, downtime, spare parts availability) and drive adoption of predictive technologies like vibration analysis and thermography
  • Develop equipment lifecycle plans, including refurbishment, replacement, and obsolescence strategies
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex equipment failures; lead RCA investigations and partner with Quality on deviations and CAPAs
  • Oversee changeover optimization and setup standardization to minimize downtime
  • Ensure all activities comply with cGMP requirements and regulatory expectations (21 CFR 210/211, EU Annex 1, Annex 15); support equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and calibration/metrology programs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve yield, availability, and throughput; support FMEAs and CPV programs
  • Own the spare parts strategy, manage OEM and vendor relationships, and build the annual reliability/maintenance budget
  • Evaluate and recommend capital investments for reliability improvements and capacity expansion


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years in equipment reliability, maintenance, or manufacturing engineering in a regulated (pharma/biologics) environment, including 3+ years leading people
  • Hands-on experience running PM programs for complex GMP equipment
  • Experience with CMMS platforms for work orders, asset tracking, and scheduling
  • A track record of building strong technical teams
